After a record $625 million hack, Sky Mavis raises $150 million to launch a new P2E game

Sky Mavis, the company behind the well-known blockchain game Axie Infinity, which was subject to one of the biggest cryptocurrency thefts in history, has raised $150 million in its most recent round of funding.

After a recent $150 million financing round, Sky Mavis now has $311 million in total funding. In the investment round, Binance joins current investors Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, Paradigm and Animoca Brands.

However, the founders of Sky Mavis sold down a portion of their own company shares in a secondary sale that provided most of the cash for this round. The consumers who have been most negatively harmed by the fund will get compensation using the funds earned in this round. Sky Mavis CEO Trung Nguyen declared, "Sky Mavis is committed to reimbursing all of our users, lost funds and adopting stringent internal security steps to avoid repeat intrusions.”

Axie Infinity: Origin is released by Sky Mavis

Sky Mavis has announced the global early access release of its free-to-play game Axie Infinity: Origin, a more accessible web-based game in the Axie genre, in conjunction with its fundraising round.

Mavis Hub, Sky Mavis's distribution platform, now has the new standalone free-to-play Origin online game accessible for download. It is not, however, available for Android or iOS at this time. On the other hand, Axie Infinity: Origin has a significant challenge in releasing barely a week after the colossal $625 million hack.
