Bahia Blockchain Platform Launched for Government Contract Bids

On July 12th, Cointelegraph Brazil reported that the Brazilian state of Bahia had launched a blockchain app that allows and tracks the public bidding process.
This app, known as Online Bid Solution (SOL), has been said to be developed by Cayenne Technology and Design. The bids are said to be completely transparent and secure thanks to the blockchain tech that supports the app. A user could potential buy crypto for use to make public bids via the platform.
The Bahia government says that the target beneficiaries of SOL will be the Brazilian agriculture industry. The reason for this is to help Bahia’s agricultural organisations connect with workers and suppliers in all of Brazil whilst providing a transparent contract bidding process. The developers have not disclosed whether users could buy Bitcoin to make bids but could be incorporated into the system. It is said that there are over 1,000 organizations in the state of Bahia that will use SOL:
“The application, already available in the Play Store and the Apple Store, will be used by about 1,100 agricultural associations and cooperatives”. These will all be available in the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia showing their commitment to help innovate the industry. The application has also been said to receive finance through a loan agreement between the World Bank and the state’s government.
Minasul, the Brazilian coffee farming cooperative, was previously reported to have planned to introduce a blockchain token for coffee farmers. With this, the farmers are said to be rewarded with tokens for harvesting coffee beans and then use the proceeds to buy an assortment of goods.
It’s a beneficial economic system for farmers since it doesn’t require one to register in a notary’s office. Consumers could buy cryptocurrency native to this block and potential use it to purchase coffee products derived from these beans.
