Boxer and Senator Manny Pacquiao Introduces His Own Digital Token

By Tyler Smith – Cryptocurrency Investor

Filipino boxing legend and Senator Manny Pacquiao has finally launched his own Pac coin and will list it on Singapore-based Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX). Those that buy and sell Bitcoin will soon be able to trade for the new cryptocurrency.

According to a Reuters report, the launch of the coin was announced by Pacquiao with a serenade at a Manila concert in front of 2,000 of his fans.

Pacquiao is a former featherweight, lightweight and flyweight champion and recently won the WBA Welterweight Championship in July. He is also recognised as a pop star and a senator, who won a seat in the Philippine senate in 2016.

The token has been in development for over a year and is a creation of Singapore’s GCOX. It was previously scheduled to be released in late 2018 for users that buy Bitcoin to trade against but is still to be listed on the exchange’s own platform.

The report says the project is being backed by a member of the ruling family of the UAE, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan and former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Liverpool football player Michael Owen. Just last year, Owen had considered launching a digital token of his own to encourage users to buy and sell cryptocurrency for merchandise.

GCOX is planning to have three further token launches with celebrities, including pop star Jason Derulo and Danish women’s tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. Celebrities getting involved could encourage more to buy and sell cryptocurrency as they receive more publicity and endorsement.
