Ethereum to be Compatible With Telegram’s Blockchain

Ethereum will be compatible with messaging company Telegram’s new blockchain project.
Telegram is expected to release the code that will run a node on the Telegram Open Network (TON) this Sunday, which will allow users to test the project ahead of its expected launch date on October 31.
TON Labs is a tech startup run by investors in Telegram’s token sale. It is building various tools for developers that will aid them to build on the new network. TON Labs CEO and managing partner Alexander Filatov said that the solidity compiler is one of those tools that will allow decentralised Ethereum-built applications to even run on TON. This means users could access Ethereum-built applications without the need to buy Ethereum to interact with.
Filatov said the following to CoinDesk:
“That was probably the most difficult thing we built. It will allow the advanced Ethereum community to pull everything they wrote for Ethereum into TON.” This also means that many applications further in development will become available on TON once it launches. Many could be encouraged to buy crypto on this chain as it will have functionality.
He said that the compiler has been in testing since July.
If TON does not launch by Oct. 31, then per its user agreement, Telegram will have to refund investors in its token sales. Therefore, Sunday’s release is expected to be the last in its series of testnet releases. It would be a big blow to the project if they aren’t able to launch by this date as many may lose confidence and not buy cryptocurrency on this chain.
Filatov says that the release of Sunday’s code will be the most important of TON’s rollout stages by saying:
“We have very little time between the node release and the mainnet launch to test, identify and fix possible bugs and vulnerabilities.”
A statement such as this does not fill an investor with great confidence to buy and sell cryptocurrency on a chain that believes they don’t have much time to address issues before the launch.
