New XRPayments App

By Jamie Green – Crypto Broker

XRPL Labs, a start-up supported by Ripple, has launched a new XRP payments app that makes accepting XRP a whole lot easier for merchants as a commercial option. This means holders will be able to use or sell XRP for commercial products or services.

The app was previously titled XRPay but had to change later in order to avoid conflict and confusion with another rivaling app bearing the same name. It is now titled XRPayments and allows the merchant to quickly convert fiat into XRP based on real-time rates to ensure payment is as correct as possible, preventing the need to cash out crypto before purchasing goods with fiat, as is still common. This is done with the integrated converter that comes with the app.

Wietse Wind, the founder of XRPL Labs announced on Twitter that the app is now available for download on both Google Play and the App Store. The app is currently denominated in USD but could be introduced in other regions with more currencies to exchange crypto to fiat. The tweet goes as follows:

“Our XRPayments app was just accepted by Google and Apple. You can get the app now from the Apple iOS or Google Play store, and start accepting $XRP for payments in your physical store!”

Currently, the app has a 4.6 rating on the Google Play Store suggesting a good application for both commercial and public users.

Xpring, which is a Ripple initiative created to fund and nurture present and future XRP projects, had provided considerable funding to XRPL Labs. While the precise amount was never publicised, it was said to be enough to run XRPL Labs for a couple years. Other than that, fans will be pleased to hear Ripple made it into the Forbes Blockchain 50 List
