Yahoo Finance Has Added Cryptocurrency Trading To Its Platform

Yahoo Finance have announced through their blog that their platform now allows users to trade cryptocurrency, adding another major institution to enter the market. The platform provides the price of over 100 cryptocurrencies amalgamated from different sources worldwide. This provides traders and users with real-time data to make informed decisions on when to sell crypto. The currently most-used site for cryptocurrency price aggregation is CoinMarketCap.

The feature to trade through the Yahoo Finance platform is only accessible through the Yahoo Finance app on the IOS store. Once downloaded users can buy and sell cryptocurrency. The system relies on an API infrastructure constructed through its partnership with TradeIt. Users are required to link their brokerage portfolios to Yahoo Finance. This allows the app to communicate with the user’s broker who will execute the orders for buying and selling crypto.

The integration only allows for orders of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin through the app with hopes of being able to provide more markets in the future to sell crypto. A year on from the data integration with TradeIt, Yahoo Finance seems to be progressing into the crypto market.
