What is IQ (IQ)?

Everipedia was the previous name of IQ.wiki. With the beta launch of the brand-new IQ.wiki crypto encyclopedia platform on Polygon on October 11, 2022, Everipedia changed its name to IQ.wiki.

A cryptocurrency devoted to the advancement of knowledge is called the IQ token. The largest cryptocurrency encyclopedia in the world, IQ.wiki, is powered by the IQ token. The platform is managed by IQ stakers, who also receive rewards, making IQ a governance and DeFi token. The IQ token, stablecoins, blue chip NFTs, and other digital assets in BrainDAO's treasury serve as the token's backing.

The transaction hash for each edit on IQ.wiki is stored on-chain, and all edits are tracked on the Polygon blockchain. Each wiki's data and uploaded photos are kept on IPFS, and each page includes the hashes for users to verify. To make sure that the platform was both scalable and open to the Ethereum ecosystem, IQ.wiki was built on Polygon, the top Ethereum sidechain. The OpenZepplin defender relayer is used by IQ.wiki to give contributors a gas-free user experience.

IQ.wiki integrations include:

  • ENS (Ethereum Name Service) -  when a user logs in, their ENS will immediately appear as their username if they have resolved their ENS to their blockchain address
  • Magic - a top user authentication and private key management platform that enables users to access IQ.wiki through social media or email
  • The Graph - a decentralized protocol for data indexing and search in networks like IPFS and Ethereum
  • Markt Data - market data and statistics are automatically retrieved by IQ.wiki pages on cryptocurrencies, NFT initiatives, and exchanges from Coingecko and other trustworthy APIs

Team

Head Brain Navin Vethanayagam, who oversees the Community, Content, and Growth team at IQ.wiki, and Chief Technology Officer Cesar Rodriguez, who oversees the Engineering Department at IQ.wiki, oversee the organization. For a while, Navin held the position of Chief Community Officer at Everipedia. Previously, Cesar Rodriguez served as the director of engineering for Everipedia and oversaw the creation of the IQ.wiki platform.

Sam Kazemian and Travis Moore, who co-founded Everipedia, have also become board members of the holding company.

Roadmap

  • Prior to Blockchain - Sam Kazemian and Theodor Forselius launched Everipedia in December 2014 at UCLA. The website was made at Kazemian's dorm room as a side project. Everipedia originally set out to create a more contemporary and inclusive version of Wikipedia. Sam and Theodor were motivated by Paul Graham, the other co-founder of Y Combinator
  • Blockchain - Everipedia declared on December 6, 2017, that it was creating "the first encyclopedia on the blockchain." They claimed to be developing a cryptocurrency coin called IQ on the EOS network. Larry Sanger, a co-founder of Wikipedia, joined the group that day and served as Everipedia's CIO until he established the non-profit Knowledge Standards Foundation in 2019. The Everipedia Network, an incentivized peer-to-peer network created by Everipedia, was later characterized in the whitepaper as a decentralized database for submitting, curating, and managing a database of encyclopedia articles
