The "laser eyes" meme originated as part of a social media movement aiming to drive Bitcoin price to $100,000 by the end of 2021, although this goal was not achieved. Notable figures from various fields, including NFL star Tom Brady, Paris Hilton, and Elon Musk, had previously adopted the laser eyes profile picture as a sign of support for Bitcoin.
Crypto community members reacted to President Biden's post with both delight and amusement, interpreting the "laser eyes" mug as an accidental endorsement of Bitcoin. Some playfully referred to him as a "Bitcoin maxi" and praised his newfound association with the cryptocurrency investment.
