What is Wanchain (WAN)?

Wanchain is a decentralized blockchain interoperability solution as well as a Layer 1 PoS blockchain with long-term viability. A complete Ethereum-like environment that supports widely used Ethereum tools, DAPPs, and protocols is the Wanchain Layer 1 PoS blockchain. Wanchain employs the Galaxy Consensus Proof of Stake consensus algorithm, which uses a number of cryptographic techniques, including as distributed secret sharing and threshold signatures, to enhance the random number generation and block production mechanisms. Galaxy Consensus is an extension of Cardano's Ouroboros, designed by top academics and researchers. 

Wanchain bridges are direct, non-custodial, decentralized bridges that connect EVM and non-EVM networks without the need for centralized middlemen. To protect crosschain assets, these bridges use Secure Multiparty Computation (sMPC) with Shamir's Secret Sharing. Wanchain's wide area network of blockchains currently connects over 15 Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks.


What problem is Wanchain (WAN) solving?

While many of the blockchains of today are trying to innovate, others are just rehashing old mistakes. Each blockchain, or perhaps a group of blockchains, exists as a separate, isolated network that lacks a sense of connection to Web3 or the future. According to Wanchain, the goal of Web3 is to make peer-to-peer interactions the fundamental building block of a networked society. Furthermore, we think that the purpose of a networked society is to facilitate the unrestricted sharing of knowledge.

How do we develop something that unites everyone and everything? The response? By developing a system that is both compatible and truly decentralized. a blockchain wide area network. 


  • The company's creator and CEO, Jack Lu, is a businessman and technological expert who is passionate about blockchain. In 2014, he served as the co-founder and CTO of Factom before joining Wanchain. Wanglutech, a blockchain technology centered on data deposit certificates and digital assets, was also founded by Lu.
  • The vice president of operations, Li Ni, is a computer scientist with more than 15 years of expertise in the tech sector. Additionally, he has sales, marketing, and company development skills. He formerly held positions with Delta Electronics, SuperMap Software, and ZTE.
  • The vice president of engineering, Weijia Zhang, is a software modeler, blockchain specialist, and expert in cognitive sciences. He spent a number of years as DELL's chief software engineer. Zhang holds more than twenty granted and pending tech patents.
